HELP – I need Somebody (not just anybody)

If you're a Beatles fan, you’ll recognize this title from their iconic album A Hard Day’s Night. While it’s a catchy tune, we believe there’s also an important life lesson hidden in those lyrics.

Over the years, through our work with clients, we've noticed a key difference between those who live more fulfilling lives and those who feel stuck or unable to grow. That difference often comes down to one essential habit:

The willingness to admit they need help—and to seek it from the right source at the right time.

In our experience, most people either wait too long to ask for help or turn to the wrong sources. They try to push through challenges on their own, let life’s busyness consume them, or hope their problems will simply disappear. At times, they turn to unhealthy sources for guidance—such as friends who are facing their own struggles—or, more concerningly, they resort to negative coping mechanisms like zoning out on social media, or using alcohol or drugs to escape.

So, what does the right kind of help actually look like?

  • Be honest with yourself. Most people know when they’re struggling, but they try to ignore it or hope it goes away. Admitting you need help is a courageous first step.

  • Talk to someone you trust. Reach out to someone close to you—someone who knows you well and is in a healthy place themselves. Get their feedback and perspective. Sometimes just saying, “I need help,” can be the turning point.

  • Consider a professional. This might be a Pastor, Minister, Therapist, or Certified Life Coach—someone trained to guide and support you through life’s challenges.

We recently had a conversation with a highly experienced, licensed therapist. When asked how many of her clients might actually be better served by working with a Life Coach, she estimated that about 50% of them would benefit more from coaching than therapy.

If any of this resonates with you, we encourage you to reach out to one of the Certified Professional Life Coaches at Two Ten Coaching. You don’t have to do this alone—and you don’t have to wait.
